美國前第一夫人芭芭拉布希　健康衰退僅接受紓緩治療

美國前總統老布希（George H.W. Bush）的妻子芭芭拉（Barbara Bush）傳出健康日益惡化，目前決定僅接受紓緩治療（comfort care）。

老布希的辦公室發表聲明指，現年92歲的芭芭拉「近期接受一連串的住院治療」，在與家人親屬討論後，決定拒絕其他醫療方式，並專心在舒緩照護。

芭芭拉與長她1歲的老布希已經結縭73年。老布希於1989年至1993年出任美國第41位總統，傳出罹患類似帕金森氏症（Parkinson）的疾病，目前僅能以輪椅行動，並且難以對談。

老布希與芭芭拉的長子布希（George W. Bush）曾於2001至2009年擔任美國第43位總統，現年71歲，目前於德州過著退休生活。

《今日美國》（USA Today）報導指，芭芭拉始終都是家族成員中最強力的支持者。她曾為老布希1990年提出的增稅政策，以及布希2003年美軍入侵伊拉克的決定出言捍衛。

老布希與芭芭拉於1941年一場耶誕舞會相識，當時芭芭拉（Barbara Pierce）年僅16歲。而當時正值第二次世界大戰，兩人在老布希前往擔任海軍飛行員前訂婚，並於1945年1月結婚。
